A mirror is a reflection of a home's style and character: how do aesthetics change its usual functions?
Mirrors serve many purposes in our homes. We use them to get dressed, apply makeup, brush our teeth, or achieve a neat, clean shave. But their role goes far beyond everyday routines. Mirrors can visually enlarge a space, reflect light, and bring more life and brightness into our homes.
Today, however, a new trend is emerging in interior design. Mirrors are becoming works of art — pieces that not only enhance our living spaces but also reflect the personality, taste, and sense of style of the people who inhabit them.
Inspired by the imperfections of nature
As global interior design trends make their way to Lithuania, one growing trend is becoming increasingly clear: the popularity of mirrors with distinctive, unconventional shapes. More and more people are embracing unique design pieces to decorate their personal spaces, choosing details that help express the character of their homes and bring the stories behind them to life.
Darius Gedvila, co-owner of Estheticut, a Lithuanian company specialising in handcrafted mirrors, shares this perspective. He encourages people to embrace imperfect shapes and unconventional designs, believing that these are precisely the elements that bring individuality, originality, and character to a home.

People are getting braver
“That is exactly what my wife and I were looking for before starting our business. We wanted to replace the standard rectangular mirror in our home with something more distinctive, but the Lithuanian market had nothing similar to offer. So we set ourselves a goal: to try making such a mirror ourselves. After all, homes decorated with hand-painted walls, handmade furniture, or self-made interior pieces have a different atmosphere — one that feels authentic and tells a unique story,” says Darius Gedvila.
His wife and Estheticut co-owner, Alvita Gedvilienė, shares his vision. She describes their family-run creative team as creators and artists who believe that mirrors are much more than ordinary interior accessories. Although mirrors are an essential part of every home, she explains, Lithuanian craftsmanship can transform them into contemporary works of art.
“Even the names of our mirrors are inspired by what surrounds us every day — nature. Pine, Grand Dune, Wave, Full Moon, and many others. We believe that mirrors are an inseparable part of our daily lives. We look at ourselves in them every day, which is why we draw our ideas and inspiration from nature and our travels. We are fascinated by imperfect, ever-changing shapes that create harmony with the people who live alongside them,” says Alvita Gedvilienė.

"After completing production, we have an exclusive mirror that is increasingly finding its way into Lithuanian homes. And people are very individual. Some are introverts, others are extroverts. Some like brightness and expressiveness, while others like subtlety and even shapes. Therefore, we can often see both a person's character and attitude to aesthetics in the interior of a home."
